Sport for Life Program
Sport for Life is offered at Clover Bar Junior High—open to students in grades 7 to 9. It gives students the chance to enhance their skills in both athletics and academics, while also developing habits and attitudes for an active and healthy lifestyle.
Mission:
Sport for Life seeks to expose students to a variety of sport and recreation activities in school, in order to cultivate their athletic skill, leadership qualities and build a foundation for all students to create and pursue their own sport and wellness goals throughout their lives.
The Sport for Life program is based on the Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) model, a movement to improve the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada through improved athlete training and better integration between all stakeholders in the sport system, including sport organizations, education, recreation and health.
Curriculum:
The Sport for Life curriculum includes topics in Physical Education, Health, and Career and Technology Foundations. Students in the program study nutrition, personal development, self and team evaluation, sports injuries, sports leadership, sports psychology, sport-specific training, sports-related careers and more.
