Fee Credits
Recently, the province announced it's reinstating the Fuel Price Contingency Program to protect school divisions from fuel-price fluctuations. The program allows the government to apply a monthly increase to school divisions’ operating revenues to offset diesel fuel costs when fuel prices exceed a certain amount—currently, $1.25 a litre.
As a result, Elk Island Public Schools is passing the relief on to all families using its busing services through a fuel-contingency rebate. EIPS Student Transportation will provide each rider, Grades 1 through 12, with a $21 credit against their student transportation fees for the 2022-23 school year. Meanwhile, riders in kindergarten will see a $10.50 credit.
- If you HAVE paid your busing fees for 2022-23, a credit for the rebate will appear in your account. You'll have an option of either applying the credit against your child’s school fees for 2022-23 or against their busing fees for 2023-24.
- If you HAVEN'T paid your busing fees for 2022-23, EIPS will automatically deduct the rebate from the total amount due.
NOTE: For some families, the full credit will not appear until the end of the year—when all loaned materials are returned to the school, such as technology equipment and library books.
