Driver Training School

The Board of Trustees of Elk Island Public Schools is a licensed driver training school.

Our instructors can offer Class 2, 4 and S Endorsement (School Bus Operator Improvement Program) Training.

Fees:  $2800 Class 2S and Class 4S

Fees: $750 S Endorsement Only (This applies to persons with an existing Class 1, 2 or 4 licence).

If you are interested in becoming a bus driver, we can put you in contact with one of our local bus contractors and if hired, they can sponsor your training.  Elk Island Public Schools pays for Class 2S training, once the driver in training has successfully passed the S Endorsement pre-trip and road test evaluations, as well as the Class 2 knowledge and road tests, and they are employed by an EIPS contractor for a minimum of 6 months. 

Class 4 and 2 drivers require a medical.  The cost of the medical, knowledge and road test permits are at the driver's expense.  

The School Bus Operator Improvement Program (“S” Endorsement) is a mandatory course for all bus operators in Alberta. Topics include: school bus inspection, loading, unloading, and transporting passengers, bus manoeuvres and defensive driving, emergencies (evacuations, first aid, and emergency equipment), mechanical breakdown, and working with passengers with disabilities.
