Earlier this month, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) sent all French Immersion families an invitation to attend a public consultation session on October 26. To complement the consultation session, the Division has also compiled background information for your reference—about EIPS; French Immersion programming; and Division courses, supports and services. The background information will help ensure everyone is as familiar as possible when the public engagement efforts begin.

Again, the Division begins Phase 1 of its French Immersion public consultations on October 26—hosted by Western Management Consultants (WMC), the contracted public consultation company. The focus: How to improve French Immersion retention at the junior high and senior high levels. All French Immersion program families, students and community members are invited to attend to learn more about EIPS’ junior high and senior high French Immersion program. Attendees will also have the chance to review feedback from previous consultation efforts, offer further feedback and ask questions.

Can’t make the meeting? You can still submit input by completing an online survey—open from October 27 to November 14. EIPS will send the survey link to the school community, post it online and share it through social media on October 27.
EIPS encourages everyone to review the background information, attend the upcoming public engagement session and share their thoughts. WMC will use the feedback from the session and survey to inform Phase 2 of its public consultation efforts, expected early in the new year.
