Introduction
All students attend German school before and after regular English school hours and on Saturdays. Students attend English school until their fifteenth birthday, and then move into a colony assigned position. Due to the nature of the colony, literacy and numeracy are key areas of focus. Some of the regular school programs and activities are either altered or adapted to match the Hutterian culture/philosophy. All students enter school as English Language Learners, as German is their first language. For most of the students, school is their first significant experience with adults from beyond the colony. Castle colony school is a Leader In Me School.
Mission
Our mission is to achieve educational excellence in preparing students for change and future challenges within the culture, structure and beliefs of the Hutterian Society.
Beliefs
We believe that the mental, physical, social and emotional well-being of every student is critical. We believe all students should be provided with a secure environment and with learning opportunities that are conducive to growth and development within the Hutterian culture/community. We also believe that the education of the child is the responsibility of the parent, school, the child and the Hutterian community. When working together we are best able to achieve our common goal of developing the potential of each child.
