Sherwood Park, AB. — The Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education team is hosting an evening of winter storytelling. The event will include food, storytelling lessons from Leaha Atcheynum, a cultural consultant at EIPS, and story rock creation with Métis Knowledge Carrier Connie Kulhavy. All EIPS First Nations, Métis and Inuit families and their allies are welcome to attend.

“Winter storytelling is a sacred tradition, where the cold stillness of the season invites us to gather, listen and pass down the wisdom of our ancestors,” says Danielle Booker, First Nations Métis and Inuit Education Consultant at EIPS. “Story rocks will be created by students and their families to support oral storytelling, with students selecting symbols or paintings that represent key elements of the stories shared this evening.”
