We are reaching out to provide a brief update on the ongoing public consultation on Elk Island Public Schools’ French Immersion program.

EIPS is deferring a decision about the secondary French Immersion program, grades 7 through 12, until the fall 2023. Originally, the Division planned to present a recommendation about the elementary and secondary French Immersion program at the Board meeting on June 15, 2023. However, more engagement is needed for the secondary program. As such, at the Board meeting on June 15, EIPS will present a recommendation about the elementary program only, as presented during Phase 3 of the engagement effort—balancing French Immersion enrolment at Heritage Hills Elementary.

The next engagement regarding junior high and senior high French Immersion is being planned for mid-June but the details are still being finalized. Once the specifics are confirmed, we will share additional information with all stakeholders.
