Thank you to all the families who took part in Elk Island Public Schools’ (EIPS) recent public consultations for James Mowat Elementary. As you know, the Division is exploring how best to manage the student growth and enrolment pressures at James Mowat Elementary.

In total, three public engagement meetings were held—on June 14, June 16 and September 22. At the meetings, attendees learned about the school’s enrolment issues, discussed possible solutions, shared ideas, asked questions and provided feedback. Two online surveys were also conducted to collect additional input. All five efforts were facilitated by Y Station Communications and Research, the contracted public-consultation company. The company then analyzed all the data and compiled two What We Heard Reports. EIPS also created a Frequently Asked Questions resource.

At the November 17 Board meeting, the Division will present the documents and a recommendation for trustees to review about how best to address James Mowat Elementary's enrolment pressures—similar to the solution discussed at the last engagement session on September 22. You can read the full recommendation report at eips.ca/trustees/meetings. The Board of Trustees will review all the information provided and feedback to ensure its decision is in the best interests of students and the school community.

Again, thank you for your participation. EIPS will continue to keep the school community informed about the process as information becomes available. For more information, or to subscribe for updates, visit eips.ca.
