As you’re aware, kindergarten registration and returning student registration within Elk Island Public Schools opens at 9 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2023. As you’re planning for the 2023-24 school year, there are two important processes and associated deadlines for current James Mowat families to keep in mind.

If your child currently attends James Mowat Elementary:

• Complete your child's returning student registration form to secure their spot at James Mowat Elementary next year.
• Returning student registration opens February 1 and forms are due Feb. 28, 2023.

If you have one or more children currently attending James Mowat who will be back next year and another child who will attend James Mowat for the first time in 2023-24—for example, a sibling starting kindergarten next year:

• Complete the returning student registration forms for all current James Mowat students by 28, 2023.
• Complete the new student registration form for the sibling as soon as possible. New student registration, including kindergarten registration, opens at 9 a.m. on February 1.
  • To guarantee the sibling's spot at James Mowat Elementary, the new student registration form must be submitted by March 15, 2023.
  • If the sibling's new student registration form is submitted on or after March 16, 2023, they’ll be directed to the alternate-designated school, Fort Saskatchewan Elementary—unless space remains available in a particular grade at James Mowat Elementary.

Student Transportation fee information has been updated to include references to both designated and alternate-designated schools, where applicable.
