Alternative Programs

EIPS offers a variety of alternative programs throughout the Division providing choice to families and students. Families interested in registering in one of these alternative programs will do so through the applicable new or returning student registration process.

The following alternative programs are available in EIPS for the 2024-25 school year. Many have planned information sessions to help interested families learn more about the program and make an informed decision during the registration process.

System Programs

Pre-kindergarten Programming

EIPS offers pre-kindergarten programming through its Play and Learn at School (PALS) program. The program supports children between the ages of two years, eight months and four years, seven months—by September 1 annually—in reaching emotional, social, intellectual and physical developmental milestones.

To determine if your child would benefit from the PALS program, EIPS offers free, speech-language assessments. The assessment findings will help determine if the PALS pre-kindergarten program is an appropriate fit for your child for the coming school year.

PALS assessments and intake begin in February 2024.

EIPS Junior High Honours Program

The EIPS Junior High Honours program is designed for students in grades 8 and 9 with high achievement in their core courses and who enjoy a challenging academic environment. Students in the program will follow the Alberta Education Programs of Study.

The Division will accept 2024-25 Junior High Honours program applications Jan. 15-26, 2024.
