Message to Families - June 6, 2023
In followup to the Parent/Guardian Information Verification forms you completed earlier this spring, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) has begun updating the necessary contact information within the Division’s student information system. On June 8, the new email subscription preferences you selected on your form will be updated within SchoolMessenger—the system the Division uses for sending out messages to families.
You’re receiving this message today as your current email subscription preferences within SchoolMessenger are that you do want to receive general messages from your child’s school and the Division. As of June 8, the email subscription preferences for the first three contacts on file for each student will be updated as follows:
- If the “Does this parent/guardian want to receive phone and email communication from the school and Division?” box was checked on the Parent/Guardian Information Verification Form, that contact will continue receiving the same types of messages you do now based on your current SchoolMessenger subscription preferences.
- If the “Does this parent/guardian want to receive phone and email communication from the school and Division?” box was unchecked on the Parent/Guardian Information Verification Form, that contact will only receive emergency and attendance message types from the school and the Division as a starting point.
After the change, all parents/guardians will have the ability to further update their own phone and email subscription preferences to add or remove message types you want to receive. There’s no need to make any updates now, as those preferences will be overwritten. More information and instructions for managing your SchoolMessenger preferences will be provided after the update is complete on June 8. For those who’d like to set up their SchoolMessenger account prior to the updates, refer to the SchoolMessenger Parent Account Guide.
Families who use EIPS Student Transportation services can manage their SchoolMessenger message preferences separately for updates related to busing. The email subscription preferences you currently have for messages from Student Transportation will not change on June 8. They’ll all remain the same as they are now.
