The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) commenced a national strike on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. Learn more about the ongoing negotiations and how the strike will impact Canada Post's operations.
During the resulting mail service disruptions, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is implementing the following contingency plan:
Communication
- While mail service is disrupted, all EIPS correspondence will be conducted by phone, email or fax. If there is any correspondence that can’t be done by phone, email or fax, EIPS will determine an alternative solution.
Payments to EIPS vendors
- Vendors are encouraged to have direct deposit remittance set up for their account, which prevents any strike-related delay in payment. To request direct deposit payments, contact EIPS Financial Services through our online contact form or by emailing finance.dept@eips.ca.
- Vendors and suppliers who must receive cheques by mail as a form of payment can either pick up cheques at the EIPS Central Services office or arrange for a courier service at the vendor’s expense. To make arrangements for pick up, contact Financial Services at 780-464-3477 or toll free at 1-800-905-3477. EIPS Central Services is located at:
683 Wye Rd.
Sherwood Park AB - If arrangements are not made, payments will resume once the mail disruption is resolved.
School fees
- School fees can be paid using the online fee management system. Simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you'll be able to view your fees and pay them online using Visa or MasterCard.
- Fees can also be paid by cash or cheque at your child’s school office, or at the Division Central Office (cheque or exact change only).
- For more information about school fees, visit eips.ca/schools/fees.
Facility Rental Payments
- Scheduled user groups who typically pay rental fees by mailing their payments may instead pay online or drop off cheques at EIPS Central Services or their closest EIPS school during regular business hours.
- For more information, visit eips.ca/about-us/after-hours-rentals.
High school transcripts
- If mail service continues to be disrupted in the coming days, high school students can access their unofficial transcript on myPass. Post-secondary institutions, and any other organization, will use the unofficial transcript to verify it with the provincial Student Records office.
- Important information about processes during the Canada Post service disruption is posted on the myPass website.
- For other Government of Alberta mail, refer to the province's Canada Post Service Disruption page.
