Sherwood Park, AB. — Beginning Monday, May 31, Elk Island Public Schools’ Student Transportation department is launching its new Stuff-A-Bus campaign—collecting much-needed items for families in the community who have been hit hard by the pandemic.

“EIPS bus drivers were telling us about kids and families in our communities who were really struggling to afford some of the basics,” says Lisa Weder, director, Student Transportation. “We decided to ask participants in our annual Bus Road-eo to consider donating items during the event, but word spread quickly and before we knew it, members of the public were asking how they could help out too. It’s incredibly heartwarming to see how people pull together to support one another during difficult times, and we’re happy to be able to assist in making that happen.”

Items being collected include:

  • new clothes for children (infants to young adults)
  • toiletries
  • non-perishable food
  • school supplies
  • new or gently used books and toys

Drop-offs can be made the following dates, times and locations:
